Welcome to Asian Network of Research Resource Centers (ANRRC)
Welcome Message from the ANRRC President

Scientific progress is not achieved by research efforts alone; it requires the accumulation and efficient sharing of high-quality research resources and data. Since its establishment in 2009, ANRRC has fostered collaboration among major research resource centers across Asia and Oceania to promote the conservation and utilization of biological resources while enhancing research quality. Currently, 112 institutions from 16 countries are actively participating in our network, contributing to the sharing of research resources, the establishment of standardized management systems, and the development of a sustainable research ecosystem.

However, ANRRC now faces even greater challenges.

Today, life science research is rapidly evolving with the integration of precision medicine, artificial intelligence (AI), and data science. Traditional methods of biological resource management alone can no longer meet the needs of future researchers. Data-driven collaboration and the adoption of digital technologies for integrated resource management are now essential. In response, ANRRC is prioritizing the development of bio-big data and AI-based research resource management, as well as the expansion of our global network.

Since I began my career as a professor in 1996, I have witnessed firsthand how the lack of research infrastructure can be a major obstacle to scientific advancement. If researchers cannot swiftly and effectively access high-quality biological resources and data, conducting high-level research becomes nearly impossible. To address this issue, I have actively advocated for government-led initiatives to establish research resource infrastructure, which led to the founding of the Korea Model animal Priority Center (KMPC).

KMPC is not merely a provider of animal models; it has grown into a platform that builds a research environment based on animal model resource information and supports a robust collaboration framework. Building on this experience, I aim to strengthen cooperation among national research resource centers within ANRRC and expand connections with institutions specializing in marine biological resources and natural products, unlocking new opportunities for scientific breakthroughs.

To achieve this vision, I am working closely with former ANRRC Presidents Toshihiko Shiroishi, Yuichi Obata, and Yeonhee Lee, along with Vice Presidents Juncai Ma and Gonsup Kim, as well as the Board Members and Secretariat. ANRRC is dedicated to supporting researchers by enhancing their research environments and maximizing the value of biological resources through collaboration with member institutions.

The future of research depends on resources, data, and collaboration. ANRRC is committed to leading this transformation and advancing science for the prosperity of humanity. We sincerely appreciate your continued interest and participation in our mission.

Thank you.
